Dorothy lost her lead this week and Maggie took over after posting a good 123 for the night.  Maggie started off well with 49 points in “Full Frame” and being the only player that broke the 40 barrier.  “Up & Down” was a good win for Evion 18 points followed by Melody on 16.  “Ladder” saw some good results with Heinz scoring 35 points followed by Peter and Theo on 27.  After missing a score in “Ladder”, DC came back by winning “Stina” witha very good 19 points which included three six pointers.  Walter was second on 16 followed by Theo on 15.  None of the players finished “Pyramid”, but Egon (30) and Peter (27) came very close.

Thursday Competition – after week 5:

Karen 55 258 50.8 10

Tony posted another solid performance by scoring a total of 121 points.  I have to point out that he is now using the solid balls and by the looks of it, he is starting to master it.  Keith had a shocker this week and dropped from first place down to fifth, but I am sure that he will crawl back up again.

“Full Frame” was won by Melody on 42 points beating Gary by one point.  “Up & Down” ended up a draw between Tony and Heinz on 17 points followed by Melody on 15.  Tony also drew for first place in the next game of ” Ladder” with Gary on 24 points, but Gary beat him in Stina by two points.  Nobody finished “Pyramid” which was won by Tony on 27 points but trying to finish the game, an eight in the last ball proved to much.

We still have room on Thursdays for two more players, so if anyone is interested, please ring us on 66 537706 or mobile 0407 292112.  Cost is only $10 per player and this is for about 3 hours of fun.

                      ———————————————————

We will be keeping the format the same as everyone enjoys the challenge.  This format has been virtually the same since 2004 with the following games being played:

“Full Frame” – this is played for 9 rounds with every shot into the full frame.

“Clean Up” – a teams game that goes for 9 rounds whereby the team members have to tidy up every frame.  Only once the total rack of pins has been cleared, a new set of pins will be placed on to the pin-deck.

“Up & Down” – played over 6 rounds with every player having 2 shots at a time.  The aim of the game is to score a large difference with the 2 balls as the lower scoring shot is deducted from the higher one.  So, the best score would be a 9 followed by a 1 or vise verso.  If any of the two shots end up in the gutter, a zero will be recorded.

“Ladder” – again for 9 rounds with the aim to score as many different numbers as possible.  Only a minimum of three connected numbers count as the total in the players score.  For example if the player records a 1,3, 5, 6 and 7, only the three connected numbers (5+6+7) count for a total of 18 points.  The numbers 1 & 3 are not counted as they are not connected.

“Stina” – only the 3 centre pins are set up, “front”, “Kingpin” and “back-pin”.  This is a difficult game as the player can only see one pin.  The score for 1 pin is 1 point, 2 pins – 3 points and all 3 pins – the Stina – counts 6 points.

“Pyramid” – This is a game of nerves, as the player has to achieve a total of 35 points within 7 rounds.  Each round sets a target which has to be reached with the total pin-fall at this stage.  The targets are 2, 5, 9, 14, 20, 27 and finally 35.  Any player that fails to reach the target number is eliminated.

We usually play one or two more games at the end of each comp night, and this is only for fun and does not count in the competition.
